Toowoomba’s Winter Wonderland
In july 2018, the Toowoomba Regional Council was looking for a holiday attraction that would be a bit different. Toowoomba’s Winter Wonderland was a clever solution that would engage the kids and adults in something not seen here before. An ice skating rink was set up in the City Square, where the public could enjoy s Winter experience with a difference. The skating rink came complete with skating rink, eating places and other entertainment. The event was on for three weeks during the school holidays and opened on the first weekend of the holidays. Many schools took the opportunity to make up a group to skate together at Toowoombas Winter Wonderland event. The The mobile skate rink company that runs the skate rink brings this event to many major cities, but this is the first time it has come to a regional town.
Everything is provided for the skaters including skate hire and some basic tuition. Many of the participants have never been on the ice before and were keen to try their hand. The rink is open both during the day and at night. At night, the rink is lit up with winterland-style lights.
Power TV Australia interviewed the company that managed the event and he told me that he was pleased with the response of the Toowomba public. With such a great response, he suggested that this might become a regular Winter attraction in the Toowoomba region.
