It’s been weeks since my referral and the hospital has finally triaged me for an appointment with the urology department at the Mater.

We travelled to Brisbane on the 18th and stayed overnight at Mater Hill Motel.
My appointment was at 6.30 am in the Urology clinic.
I had lots of questions for the urologist, under the assumption that I was going to have my bladder removed.

To my pleasant surprise, he was not in a hurry to do a radical cystectomy. He said that cystectomies were a “very American approach” and that he would prefer to try me on BCG again.
After more discussion about my initial reaction to BCG, he suggested that they would try a half-strength dose and work to control my pain.

This was music to my ears and I went home feeling quite excited.
