Rigid Cystoscopy #2

On November 15th, 2022, I was back at the pre-admissions department of the hospital, preparing for another Rigid Cystoscopy. As I had been through the process before, it was pretty straight forward.

On November 25th, 2022 I arrived at the day surgery unit at 6.30am, for my next Cystoscopy. I couldn’t resist taking this selfie with my beautiful hospital gown and hat.

This procedure went well and I was discharged the same day to go home. Unfortunately, because it’s such an invasive procedure, I have been in quite a bit of pain for the last week, but it seems to have settled now.

Again, the waiting time is the most stressful. Apparently they found new areas of encroachment in my bladder and took another biopsy. I won’t know the results of that for another week, at which time we will discuss where to from here.

I’m hoping they will re-start the BCG treatment, but if the results are worse than last time, it may be that I will need to go to the PA Hospital and have my bladder removed. This would be a huge operation and they would need to remove the bladder, prostate and lymph glands. It would also mean that they would need to build me a new bladder using some of my intestine and may see me end up with a stoma bag!
